In addition, the wood timber steps and walls surrounding the patio were failing. In order to increase the size of the patio, everything had to be removed and redone. Overgrown plants made this small patio very uninviting. The current patio was too small and the steps were failing apart making the patio completely unusable. Brick Walkways and Seat Walls in Muskego, WI

Having a functional and beautiful outdoor living area was very important to this assisted living complex. Creating it would be a challenge due to the significant grading issues in the area as well as the overall size of the project. In the end, the space turned out excellent and the residents were immediately enjoying the space. Poor drainage in the area led to pooling water, a muddy lawn and an unusable space. The Arborvitaes that were planted were not thriving and turning into an eye sore. They were the first to be removed. Walkways and a main sitting area were created where bare muddy lawn once was. The adjacent areas were properly graded for the first time and now water is moving out of the area. Decorative inlays and free standing seat walls were added to enhance the entire space. After all of the hardscaping was completed, final touches to the grading took place and fresh topsoil was added to prepare for the new sod. In addition, plants and stone mulch were added around some of the main features. After completion, the space can now be enjoyed by residents, family and friends. Plants and sod have taken in nicely and the space has been completely transformed.

Brick Steps and Walkway in Greenfield, WI

Front walkways and entrances are very important for function and curb appeal. In this project, the original front walkway was made out of crushed stone and was proving a maintenance nightmare. Also, the front planting bed needed to be given an upgrade. New brick pavers and steps were installed and the planting bed was renovated with new low-maintenance plants with colorful seasonal interests. The crushed stone walkway was very dangerous especially in the winter months and had begun to slowly disappear over the years. In addition, having the overgrown shrubs next to it made the walkway feel even smaller. Both areas had to get renovated and refreshed. Once the old walkway was removed, new brick pavers and steps were created. The steps were spaced out to create equal large landings to make the walkway easier to navigate and shovel in the winter months. The bed area between the house and the steps was completely renovated and prepared for new plants. The planting bed was finished with new Daylilies, Boxwoods, Compact Burning Bushes and Hydrangeas. It was then finished off with new mulch. The front of the home now has some curb appeal that is functional and beautiful.
