Fox Point Drainage Solution Project

There are a wide range of drainage problems that affect homeowners.  These drainage problems will continue to get worse over time as water settles features such as lawn areas, patios and landscaping causing easily preventable damage and expense.   Our team’s approach to solving most drainage problems is simple, water flows downhill. We simply create a path for water to flow away from its undesired location.

In this project, two neighbors in Fox Point, WI were both having drainage issues.  The overgrown landscape had created a pitch towards both of their homes and created puddling in the lawn area between the homes.  The goal in this project was to create a positive pitch away from both homes and to create a smooth efficient swale.

Fox Point Drainage Solution
Both homes have a negative pitch towards the house and there is a flat lawn area between them where water pools.
landscape contractor
In order to achieve a positive pitch away from both homes, all the existing landscaping, trees and shrubs have to be removed.
landscape contractor
The removal process is almost complete and the area will soon be ready for grading.

The area is then graded to create an efficient swale.

Trenching is taking place within the swale to install a drain tile system.
drain tile installer
The perforated drain tile is back filled with limestone chips to help absorb additional sub-surface water within the swale.
grading contractor
Drain tile is finished being installed and the final grades are being checked with a laser transit to ensure the swale is pitched properly and water will move efficiently away from both homes.
milwaukee landscaper
A catch basin is added to the drain tile system to help catch additional water within the swale.
waukesha landscaper
Topsoil, seed and erosion control are added to completed swale.
Franklin landscaper
The grading and swale are complete! All that needs to be done is for the customer to water the new lawn area.
New Berlin Landscaper
A few weeks later, the new lawn area has grown in nicely!

From beginning to end, this project took just 2 days!  Our expert team specializes in these types of drainage projects every day throughout Southeastern Wisconsin.  For additional information on drainage issues and their solutions, please visit our Drainage Solutions page.

Looking to renovate an outdoor living area?  Does your backyard look similiar to this Mequon home? Take a look as we completely renovate this Mequon outdoor living area!

Mequon Landscape Renovation

The existing outdoor living space has been overgrown with Arborvitae and is no longer an inviting or usable space.  Taking on a project of this size can be a big challenge for a homeowner to tackle themselves.

It is impossible to even see through the thick foliage to the existing deck area!

Patio Builder

The dated deck has been repainted many times and is due for an upgraded outdoor living space.

The project begins by removing all existing features which includes the row of Arborvitaes, the deck, stones, mulch and anything else in the way to make space for the new brick paver patio.  With the right experience, tools, equipment and staff, this part of the process moves very fast.

Removal of the deck continues at a rapid pace!

Halfway through day 2! All of the existing features have been removed, the patio base has been set, the Unilock Brussels Blcok brick paver process has begun and the free standing decorative walls are taking shape!

Patio Installers

At the end of day 2, the project is complete!  The patio is made with Unilock Brussels Block brick pavers that match the Unilock Olde Quarry Stone walls and fire pit.  Polymeric sand is added to the paver patio joints to help stabilize the paver joints and to decrease the amount of water that flows through the patio surface.

Concrete vs. Brick Patio

Homeowners often struggle between choosing a material for their new patio, “Should I go with concrete or brick pavers?” Here is what we believe to be the pros and cons for both materials:

Pros of Brick Pavers:
1. Large selection of styles, colors and textures.
2. Easy to clean and maintain.
3. Pavers come with a lifetime warranty from cracking.
4. Adds a more elegant and ornate look.

Cons of Brick Pavers:
1. More joints.
2. Potentially more expensive.

Pros of Concrete:
1. Cost effective.
2. Easy to clean and maintain.
3. Uniform look.

Cons of Concrete:
1. Cracks can be unsightly and ugly.
2. Only a few colors to choose from.
3. Difficult to repair.
4. Difficult to maintain a consistent thickness throughout the surface.

If you are interested in viewing a number of brick paver options, please feel free to stop by our outdoor display.  Or if you would like to contact us today to schedule a time to meet with our landscape designers to discuss which option is right for you!
